Divorce: Does Giving Two Talaqs and Remarrying Count as Three or One?

Q: I have a question about divorce. After giving two talaqs and remarrying her a year later with a fresh nikaah, then gives her one talaq again, does this count as three or one?

A: Three talaaqs.
