Preparing to meet Allah Ta’ala

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have just found I have cancer. I have sinned a lot and I would like to know what to do in order to prepare for death. I do not know how long I have to live, how can I seek forgiveness in the most sincere way possible?

Bismillaah

A: From the time you have come of age try and work out all the rights of people and the rights of Allah Ta`ala. Try and fulfil them to the best of your ability and then ask Allah’s forgiveness for the mistakes you had done knowingly or unknowingly. Beg Him for aafiyat and ease in life, at the time of death and in the hereafter with the company of the righteous.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
