Air hostess refusing to serve alcohol

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I saw a story online regarding an air hostess who refused to serve alcohol. It’s not her alcohol. She is a wage employee of the airline. The passengers are not Muslims. Is her refusal to serve alcohol permitted or required from the standpoint of Islamic law?

Bismillaah

A: It is not only permissible, but it is compulsory for her to refuse. It is even more important that she must not take the job of an air hostess for she will have to expose herself to males all the time and travel without a mahram.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
