Women attending the ta’leem

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have a question, at times I notice women in purdah walking on the road and I don’t feel comfortable about it. I was told that because their husbands are at work they have to walk and go for the weekly ladies taleem. Is this correct for them to do?

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible for them to attend the ta’leem. However they should be clad correctly and observe purdah. If you see them walking on the road, then you should not walk on the same side of the road that they are walking. If it is possible for you to avoid going on that street, it will be better.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
