Showing respect to a non-Muslim teacher

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to ask that a teacher has a very pious place in our religion (he is like a father), but today my teacher is a sikh. Has he the same place?

Bismillaah

A: It is obvious that you will not show respect to a sikh like you will show to a Muslim. However, show him some regards and consideration on account of him instructing you.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
