Question:
Q1-HOW IS IT FOR A PERSON TO DO TA’ZIYAH EACH DAY FOR THREE DAYS, TO GO THREE TIMES IS THIS SUNNAH OR IS IT MAKROOH TO GO FOR TA’ZIYAH MORE THAN ONCE? PLEASE PROVIDE REFERENCE TO REPLY.
Answer:
Ta’ziyah (expressing ones condolences) is an encouraged and Mustahab act. Nabi Kareem (S.A.W.) has mentioned that: “Whosoever comforts his Muslim brother at the time of grief, Allah shall clothe him in the garments of honour on the Day of Qiyaamah.” However, Ta’ziyah should only be made once within three days of the death of the person (preferably it should be done immediately after the burial). It is Makrooh (odious) for a person who has already made Ta’ziyah once to do so a second or third time. (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 3, Page 147-149, Ahsanul Fataawaa, Vol. 4, Page 244)
