What other type of socks are allowed for Masah (besides leather)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My question is regarding Masah of feet.Apart from leather socks what other type of socks are allowed for doing masah.please explain.

Answer

(Fatwa: 724/494=H/1430)

It is right to do masah on cotton and woollen socks as well provided they are so thick that one can walk three miles (8000 feet) wearing them without shoes and hold without tying them on shank not due to being tight. And, it holds water and the feet are not seen. If any of the conditions is lacking, then doing masah on such socks will not be valid. The details can be seen in Fatawa Shami, Fatawa Hindiyah, Al-Badai?I etc.
