Answer

(Fatwa: 827/305/TL=1432)

If you had only 30.73 gram gold, there is no zakah on you; since the nisab (minimum limit) of gold is 87.479 gram, there is no zakah if it is less than the limit. But, if you had silver and cash along with the gold which had value of 52.5 tola silver, so you will be asked to pay the zakah. The zakah will be paid in this way: you will estimate which year you had wealth (gold, silver, cash etc) equal to nisab, so you will pay the zakah of that year. It is to be noticed that the evaluation and payment of zakah will be as per the concerning year. For example, if 1000 was the nisab in 1981, he will have to pay only 25 as zakah of that year. The nisab will be evaluated as per the cost of 52.5 tola in the concerning year. In this way, the zakah of all the years will be paid i.e. the zakah of the years will be paid after estimation of the nisab of the particular year. Also, the amount which was paid as zakah will be deducted from the total amount. For instance, if 25 rupees were paid as zakah of first year, this amount of 25 rupees will be deducted from the total amount in the next year. Thus, the zakah of all the 30 years will be paid. If you are not owner of nisab in any year, you will not pay the zakah of that year.
