What is the importance of saying “salalahu alihi wasalam” when reciting Surah Muhammad in prayer?

Dear sir i will like you to make this clear to me as i dont understand,i was praying magrib in on of these mosqe and when the imam reach to this verse in the quan(muhammadu rasulu lahi)all the mamomeen says(salalahu alihi wasalam)they say it loudly i will like to know if it is in teachings of the messenger. ////Wasalam

(Fatwa: 643/601=L/1429)

The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) did not teach it; even it will nullify the salah:

سمع اسم اللہ تعالی فقال: جل جلالہ او النبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فصلی علیہ او قرآۃ الامام فقال: صدق اللہ ورسولہ تفسد ان قصد جوابہ (الدر المختار مع الشامی: 2/380)
