Amabad. my elder brother has one dump truck which costs around 50,000 US Dollars. he is also the driver of the same truck, he drives this truck to take care of his family. all the money that he makes is not more than his family expenses. I mean the profit of this Truck is not more than his expenses. now should he give Zakat of the Truck? I told you the truck cost 50,000 Dollars now if he needs to pay Zakat he will need to pay 1250 dollars but he does not have that amount, then he will need to sell his truck to pay Zakat. please let me know. he really really needs to know soon. our native language is Pashto, and I am writing from Kandahar Afghanistan, my brother does not speak or write urdu or English, that is why he wants me to aks you his question, your quick answer will be highly appreciated. There is no Zakah on the price of the truck, so there is no need to give Zakah by selling it. And, in the case mentioned above, there is no Zakah on its profits as well. Yes, if you save some money from family expenses which is equal to nisab, you will have to pay its Zakah after completion of one lunar year.
