I work for a software company. In my company some time we do not have any work to do and wait for some work to come. I also do some private software projects online with clients at home. Is it legal for me to do private project during the company time when there is no work or when my company work is finished?

It is against honesty to do personal work during the company time. If you do not have a task in your time then too it is necessary for you to be present there.
