Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

one of our local aalim told me that the muftis of arab has said that now it is allowed because in earlier times the photographs were prayed and now it is not so.Today we have no such thinking.that is why they have allowed this. Now my question is is it right or wrong?

Answer

The prohibition of photograph is not only confined to the fact that it maylead to Shirk or idolatory. There are also other reasons for its prohibition.
