Asymmetrical Lines Behind the Imam

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) I would like to ask a question on what we should do regarding salat we pray at work We have been given a room that is rectangular in shape and the Qiblah is in the corner. The layout is such that we are only to pray on one side behind the Imam (the left side). In other words the Imam is not in the middle but where the Imam stands the line starts behind him and we only fill one side because on the other side wall is the barrier. Please advise what we should do. [Brother Hatim].

A.) It is from among the etiquettes of Salat that the Imam stands in the centre. However, due to place constraints, it is permissible for the Imam to stand towards one side to accommodate more Musallees. And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
