Feeling Hatred Against Others for No Apparent Reason

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) My question is regarding major problems of the heart. I have a problem where many times, a feeling of hatred develops in me against someone for no apparent reason and they may be an excellent person.

I have read Mufti Taqi’s book on spiritual discourses, but I cannot remove this hatred from within my heart. When I smile, it seems so fake within me.

Even when I go for Jamat sometimes, it still seems to be there and I cannot eliminate this when I know this is wrong.

I would be grateful for any replies you could give me regarding this with any du’a. [Abdullah]

A.) The solution is simple.

Whenever you have a negative feeling towards someone, ponder immediately upon your shortcomings and think if people come to know of my shortcomings, imagine how they will feel towards me. Also, think the person I feel negatively towards is probably from among those whom Allah says that there are some people whose shortcomings will be converted to good deeds. Why should I think negatively about the person? He may be among those whose shortcomings will be converted to good deeds on the Day of Judgment.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
