Is Sunni Dua Naad e Ali Permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I came across a Sunni Version of Dua Naad e Ali, by reading it the dua looks very good to me, could you please let me know if reading this dua is permissible and also let me know its meaning in English.

Bismillaah

A: These types of words that have an ambiguous import must be avoided. Outwardly this seems to be directed to Hadhrat Ali (radhiyallahu anh). Hence, it would amount to one calling upon Hadhrat Ali (radhiyallahu anh) for help. This is obviously shirk, and words or practices that could have that effect must be avoided.
