1. Fasting is encouraged during the inviolable months (Dhul-Qi’da, Dhul-Hijja, Muharram, Rajab) [Reliance, e2.1(6)]
2. Fasting is particularly encouraged on Ashura (the 10th day of Muharram) and the day before it. [Reliance, e2.1(2)]
3. There are no special prayers to be offered on Ashura. [Reliance, f10.15(4)]
