Is it permissible to use the technology that determines the unimpaired embryos in Test-Tube Babies in order to eschew the genetic disease called ” Alstrom Syndrome” which leads to having blind babies with advanced degrees of deafness, diabetes and sterility.

All praise be to Allah, peace and blessings be upon Prophet Mohammad and upon his family and righteous companions: Undergoing the Test-Tube Baby procedure is permissible in case of medical necessity so as to eschew a genetic disease. It is also permissible to undergo certain medical procedures that help eschew such diseases. Therefore, if the above technology helps in distinguishing unimpaired embryos, then it is permissible to use it because Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) said: “ Seek treatment since there is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment, except one: aging.”{Abu-Da`wood). Undoubtedly, a healthy baby is stronger than a non-healthy one, so there is no harm in getting rid of the impaired embryos. And Allah knows best.
