Are the Splashes That Land When Flushing the Toilet Impure?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: Are the splashes that land on the seat or the floor when flushing the toilet impure? If so, how do I purify it?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate,

The splashes that come forth onto the toilet seat or the floor when flushing are impure. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]

How Do I Purify It?

If a surface that does not have clearly discernible pores, such as the toilet seat and the floor, can be purified by merely wiping away the impurity such that no traces of it remain on the surface. Traces include the color or smell. [Ibid.]

You do not specifically need to wash the area. Even if you choose to wash the area, a large amount of water or time is not necessary. Merely wash the area till you are reasonably sure the impurity is gone. [Ibid.]

Water by nature purifies. Therefore, merely pouring water over such a place is sufficient to remove the impurity. However, before pouring water wipe the area dry so as not to spread the impurity. [Ibid.]

I hope this helps,
Allah knows best.
