Forgetting to pay a small amount of money to the seller

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Ali is buying something from Ahmed. Ali has 100 rupees and pays 100 rupees but the actual price is 105 rupees. Ahmed says, “okay, next time”. Now, this is not much money. It is quite possible that both parties forget about this dealing. What will happen to Ali?

Will he be judged on the day of judgment?

Bismillaah

A: If the price of the item was 105 rupees and the purchaser only paid 100 rupees and the seller told him to pay the 5 rupees later on, then the 5 rupees will be a debt upon the purchaser.

Yes, he will be questioned about it in the Hereafter.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
