Understanding Moon Sighting and Eid Celebrations in Different Countries

Q: How this moon sighting thing works in different countries? Why eid is celebrated on different days by different people of country? The Hadith says not to fast on the day of eid.. Please clarify.

Bismillaah

A: We have been commanded to start the month with the sighting of the moon and end the month with the sighting. Hence, the country that sights will start the month and accordingly they will end according to their sighting.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
