Will a person who passed away know that someone made dua for them?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Currently I’m extremely sad and don’t know what to do. Anyways my question is that If you make dua for a dead Muslim girl or boy but he or she has never seen you, but you’ve seen them, can he or she still recognizes you that you made a dua for her or him and does he or she gets happy when you make a dua?

Bismillaah

A: Like you can recognise people here, you should recognise people in the next realm as well.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
