Q: I want to ask the meaning of the name Aaliyah and Aaliah. Can I keep this name for my daughter? Kindly respond because most of the people giving different opinions about that.

Bismillaah

A: The meaning is ‘High’.

We are more comfortable with the names of the pious of the past, like Khadeejah, Maryam, etc.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
