Stopping in the middle of the verse

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Why is it that whenever I listen to the Quran, the reciter always pauses at places where there is no sign of pause found in the Mushaf and they also go back to repeat it and finish the verse? How do you know when you can stop in the middle of a verse even if it doesn’t have a sign of pause?

Bismillaah

A: They are not stopping in the middle of the verse deliberately. It is on account of the reciter running out of breath. However, he should try and ensure that he stops at a place where he will not complicate the meaning. This could be understood by discussing with someone who is experienced in this regard.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
