Can food/drink at Khatmul Quran be consumed if not exchanged for Quran recitation?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If someone goes to a Khatmul Quran (completing the Quran) and afterwards partake of eats and drinks that was provided by those in charge, is it permissible the drinks and eats? Does this masala fall under the ayats of the Quran “and do not sell the ayats of the Quran for a small price”? Please keep in mind that the ones in charge is not cooking with the intention of payment for tilawat.

By Khatm Quran if you mean to the prevalent collective Quran khani then this system is makrooh and disliked as it involves evils. One should avoid consuming the meal which is served after Khatm Quran as it resembles remuneration. However, even if one does not intend remuneration by feeding, but usually it is custom to serve meal after reciting Quran And the person who recites also expects that he would get some food etc after recitation.
