Skin Care Product Containing Cetyl Alcohol.

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) I would like to know whether a skin care product which contains Cetyl Alcohol is considered halal. As far as I know it is not, but I was informed by a friend that it is a product that can be marketed to Muslims. [Dennis]

A.) According to our understanding, cetyl alcohol is synthetic alcohol.

If so, it is permissible for a Muslim to purchase and sell such a product. And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
