Q.) What is the correct and accepted definition of bid’ah? [Mazhar Iqbal]

A.) To introduce something which is not part of Deen into Deen and engage in it as part of Deen is Bid’ah.

Sayyidah Aisha, Radi-Allahu anha, narrates that Rasulullah Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whosoever initiated in this matter of our (Deen) that which is not part of it, is rejected.” (Mishkaat)
