Communicating in other languages besides Arabic

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I wanted to know that must every Muslim speak in Arabic or make dua only in Arabic. I read Qur’an in English transliteration of Arabic, so is it right to do or not?

Bismillaah

A: No, it is allowed to communicate or make duaa in other languages besides Arabic. As far as reciting the Quran is concerned, it is not permissible to recite the Quran in any other language besides Arabic. Hence, you should refrain from reciting the Quran from the English transliteration.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
