Is it permissible to give someone a gift who might use it do something haram?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

If you are certain that he will use it to do something haram, it is not permissible to give it to him.

However, if it is merely possible that he will do something permissible or impermissible with it, without having complete certainty that he will use it for something haram, then it is not haram to give that to him as a gift. [As mentioned in Ibn Hajar’s Tuhfa, and elsewhere]
