Can Laughing at a Good Person Lead to Kufr?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If I laugh at a person who is good and righteous, helps elderly people others and respects teachers, etc., does it lead to kufr?

Bismillaah

A: It is not kufr. However, it is a major sin to laugh and mock people. You should refrain from this and make sincere tawba. You should also ask forgiveness from the people you had mocked and laughed at.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
