Following one Madhhab on every issue? – (Hanbali Fiqh)

Answered as per Hanbali Fiqh by TheHanbaliMadhhab.com

According to our madhhab, following one madhhab on every issue is not obligatory. So, it is permissible to follow one scholar or madhhab on one issue, and a different madhhab on another issue. On the condition that you do not do this simply because it suits you or is in accordance with your desires.

[See Sharh al-Tahrir by Imam al-Mardawi (r)]

This is the mu’tamad position of the madhhab. Other scholars may disagree, but we have explained the official position of the school as stated by al-Mardawi and ibn an-Najjar (r). This also the position of the majority of scholars of the four madhahib.

The ruling is clear and simple to follow for those who are sincere. As for the one who wants to follow their desires, then Allah is Aware of all things.
