Does the insertion of a finger in a woman’s private part make Ghusal and Wudhu necessary?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. If husband and wife do not have relations but the husband uses his finger to please his wife, is wudhu or ghusal necessary for the wife?

A. Ghusal becomes necessary on a couple if they engaged in conjugal relations. Ghusal does not become necessary by the mere insertion of the finger into the private part of one’s wife/woman. (Fataawa Darul Uloom Deoband 1/133) In this case, the insertion of the finger into the private part of one’s wife/woman will necessitate Wudhu only. (Ahsanul Fataawa 2/20) However, if this is done to satisfy ones wife and ejaculation takes, then Ghusal will be necessary.
