Wishing non-Muslims with Merry Christmas and attending Christmas functions

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. Is it allowed to wish non-Muslims “Merry Christmas”? Are we allowed to attend Christmas functions?

A. It is not permissible for a Muslim to say ‘merry christmas’ to a non-Muslim or even attend Christmas gatherings and functions.

In fact, the Fuqaaha (jurists) have stated that such acts could take one out of the fold of Islam. (Taatarkhaaniyyah)
