Sajdah Tilaawat for a woman in the state of Menses (Haidh) or Post Natal Bleeding (Nifaas)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. If a woman in Haidh or Nifaas reads or hears someone recite a verse of Sajdah Tilawaat from the Quran, is it necessary upon her to make Sajdah Tilaawat after she becomes pure?

A. The performance of Sajdah Tilaawat (caused by reading or hearing a verse of Sajdah Tilaawat) is not necessary (Waajib) upon a woman in the state of menstruation (Haidh) or Post Natal Bleeding (Nifaas). Hence, if a woman in the state of Menstruation or Post Natal Bleeding has read or heard someone recite a verse of Sajdah Tilaawat, it will not be necessary (Waajib) upon her to perform it after she becomes pure. (Badaai-us-Sanaai’ 1/186)

N.B. It is not permissible to recite a verse, including a verse of Sajdah Tilaawat in the state of Menstruation and Post Natal Bleeding. It is also not permissible to make a Sajdah Tilaawat in such a state.
