What can we do for our brothers and sisters in Syria?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question:

As salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa ba ra katuh.

Dear shaykh, I pray that you are in the best of health.

My question is, what shall we do about our fellow Muslims who are being treated like animals in such ways in shaam? Such ways that hurt just thinking about it.

We make dua and ask Allah to help the Muslims suffering in Syria and other areas of the world and giving as much aid as we can to help those who have managed to escape to the neighbouring countries but have very little resources to live on and feed their children.

What else can we do? If there is anything. In reality we are always helpless, but at this current moment in time we feel that especially so, it seems the other countries don’t exert their maximum efforts to help stop this oppression. But what else can we do? Because not only do I feel hurt hearing what is happening there and knowing it probably is a lot worse in the actual setting, I don’t want to go on the day of qiyamah and be told I didn’t do what I should have when the Muslims were suffering in such brutal ways because they wanted freedom from a man who thinks he is greater than Allah naoozubillah.

Please shaykh enlighten me – and many other Muslims I am sure – on this issue.

Jazakallah khair
Wassalam.

Answer:

Walaikumussalam w w

One hadith says,

عن حذيفة قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من لم يهتم بأمر المسلمين فليس منهم

‘Whosoever does not worry about the affairs of Muslims is not from amongst them. (tabrani)

This fikr (worry) urges us to make duas for them and support them whatever way possible for us.

Make this dua 3 times every morning and evening: (after fajr and after asr)

O Allah! Forgive the Ummah of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam

O Allah! Have mercy upon the Ummah of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam

O Allah! Have remove the problems from the Ummah of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam

O Allah! Take care of the Ummah of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam

Allah will reward you and make things better, insha’ Allah.
