Finding out the gender of a baby before it’s birth

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question: Salaam Are we allowed in Islam to find out the babies gender before birth?

Answer: Yes it is allowed. This is an effect of advancement in technology. The doctors can see, with the scan, what they are telling you. So this is not interfering with ghaib, the unseen. Rather it is a mushahadah and therefore allowed.

Some akaabir prophesied the gender of the baby before it’s birth. While on his deathbed, Sayyiduna Abu bake siddique informed the family that a baby girl will be born and she should be allotted so much share of the inheritance. Sheikh Sunaqabri rah informed hafiz ibn hajar’s parents that a son will be born to you who will fill the land with ilm. Similar prophecy is narrated regarding our hazrat mawlana yusuf motala sahib and his elder brother hazrat mawlana Abdul raheem saheb damat barakatuhuma.
