Photo’s and Haraam income

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

Can you except haram money for family and home expenses if that is the only income by the husband?

If I feel I don’t wish to be in photos and videos and my husband is not yet practicing can it be an exception if the photo is only with him? So it doesn’t upset him as he has not felt what I feel about islam?

Answer

Photos are haram because Allah’s prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said they’re haram. The original reason was that photos lead to worship, which still happens today. Iranians worship khomenis photos, aga khanis worship his photos. Even if the reason goes, the ruling stays. Try to explain to your husband and children in a good way, inshallah, Allah will guide them through you. With regards to income, when you have no choice, accept it with a heavy heart and keep seeking forgiveness from Allah
