Assalamualikum,
My son lives in Arlington Heights, IL and we live in Des Plaines, IL. Many times he flies to Utah and on his return trip from O’hare airport, he stops by at our house in Des Plaines. Should he pray Qasr or all four Rakats of Duhr, Asr, and Isha?

As both localities are separate from each other and a person is considered a traveler until he enters his city, he will be considered a traveler if he stops by in the city of Des Plaines while returning to his home and he would pray Qasr.
والقرية المتصلة بالفناء دون الربض لا تعتبر مجاوزتها على الصحيح كما في شرح المنية. ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔(قوله حتى يدخل موضع مقامه) أي الذي فارق بيوته سواء دخله بنية الاجتياز أو دخله لقضاء حاجة لأن مصره متعين للإقامة فلا يحتاج إلى نية جوهرة، ودخل في موضع المقام ما ألحق به كالربض كما أفاده القهستاني{ رد المحتار:باب صلاۃ المسافر}
