Is it Permissible to Wear Tanned Lizard Leather?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Is it permissible to wear lizard leather (e.g. tanned lizard leather)?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

Yes, it is permitted to use the tanned hide of any animal except that of pigs or humans. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

The pig is considered to be essentially filthy, and the human being has a God-given nobility.

And Allah alone gives success.

wassalam,
