Late Takbir in Congregation

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: I led a congregation prayer today and whilst going into rukuh, i said the takbeer quietly and not loudly and then when i reached the rukuh position i remembered that i am supposed to say the takbber aloud and so i said the takbeer again but this time aloud. I said the second takbeer before the invocations of the rukuh. What is the ruling regarding this situation?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are well, insha’Allah.

It is a sunna for the imam to raise his voice during the prayer for the takbirs which occur therein. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

If you were leading a congregation and forgot to say the takbir aloud whilst moving from the standing to the bowing position (for example), you would say it before reciting your tasbihs.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
