Working in Product Distribution for Unlawful Companies

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Shaykh Faraz A. Khan

Question: If a person works for a global supply chain company in the import, export, and product distribution business, and among the company’s large array of clients is a haram company,  such as a brewery, are the earnings halal, haram, or makruh?  The company has many other clients into Halal businesses.

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and states.

Such earnings are lawful (halal), as such a service for an unlawful company entails indirect assistance in sin, which is disliked but not sinful according to Imam Abu Hanifa. [Sarakhsi, Mabsut]

And Allah knows best.
