Is it Permissible to Wear Fake Eyelashes?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: I just wanted to know if it is permissible to wear fake eyelashes.

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are well, insha’Allah.

It is permitted to wear fake eyelashes. However, it would remain superior to avoid doing so without need or benefit.

This is on the condition that they are not established to be harmful, as some medical experts have warned.

Nevertheless, it would only be permitted to use: [i] synthetic or [ii] animal (non-pig) hair. [al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya]

The use of human hair wouldn’t be permitted.

And Allah alone gives success.
