What Will Happen to Plants and Animals on the Day of Judgment?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: What will happen to animals and plants on the day of judgement?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are well, insha’Allah.

On the day of judgement, animals will be resurrected. Those amongst them who were wronged by other animals (e.g. the hornless by the horned) will seek requital. After this, they will be turned into dust, as understood from the words of Abu Huraira. [Nawawi, Sharh Muslim; al-Hakim, Mustadrak]

It would seem that plants, too, will become dust on that day.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “All scores will be settled on the Day of Resurrection; even the hornless sheep from the horned.” [Muslim]

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,
