Are My Previous Prayer Accepted Despite Past Mistakes?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Assalam ‘aleykum.

I have realized that I make some mistakes in my prayer (salah). For example, if we remain silent in the prayer such that the time taken to say Subhanallah thrice is passed then we have to perform a prostration of forgetfulness. Plus there is a word in the Tashahud which I used to pronounce wrongly (unintentionally). But now I have corrected my mistakes. Will all my previous prayers be accepted?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this message finds you well, insha’Allah.

Yes, your previous prayers are valid because the points you mention are not invalidating.

However, I’d advise against taking law (fiqh) from books, if you aren’t yet grounded in your foundations, particularly when they can be misleading or are simply inaccurate.

And consider taking the following free class at SeekersHub: Absolute Essentials of Islam: Basic Hanafi Jurisprudence (STEP)

And Allah alone knows best.
