Question: Assalamu alaykum,

If a person who trims his hairs less than 1 inch to come out of ihram , has he actually come out of ihram? If not , what is the dam he has to give and what is the timelimit for it?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

What is necessary (wajib) is cutting the extent of 1cm or so from one quarter of the head.

If he cut less than this, he should consider taking the Shafi`i position. See: What is the Minimum Amount of Hair that Must Be Cut to Exit the State of Ihram After Hajj or Umrah?

And Allah alone gives success.

wassalam,
