Reciting Aloud When Praying Alone

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I read in Muqadimat al Ghaznawi that in the Hanafi madhab a single  man (meaning praying by himself not in Jama) can recite secretly in  prayers of Maghrib Fajir and Isha just like if he/she was praying  Duhur did I understand correctly? is this really valid in the Hanafi  madhab?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaikum,

The one praying alone has a choice of whether to recite aloud or silently in the prayers the imam recites out loud in (namely, fajr, maghrib, and isha), though the former is better. However, one should not recite as loud as one would if leading others. [Radd al-Muhtar, Ibn Abidin]

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
