Religion or Superstition?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Ilyas Patel

I have a question in regards to certain traditions in my culture, which are commonly looked upon as coming from Islam I wanted to verify these things.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

1 & 2. Both are superstitions.

3. It has been mentioned by Allama Muhammad al Jazari in Al Hisnul’ Hasin, a comprehensive collection of masnun duas as follows:

When there is buzzing or humming in the ear one think of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) recite the salat on the Prophet and the following dua:

‘Dhakarallahu bi khayrin man dhakarani’

May Allah think well of that person who has thought of me

(Allama Muhammad Al Jazari, Al Hin al Hasin pg 198)

And Allah knows best
