Passing Wind during Ghusl?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

This is my first Ramadan, and my first Month of trying to pray 5 times a day, etc. (sounds bad, but I am working on becoming a decent Muslim). I have a slight problem. Aside from everybody giving me conflicting advice on other matters, such as prayer, Im not sure about my Ghusl. My stomach has been grumbling lately, and as I was performing Ghusl, I passed wind (it also happened again afterwards), since I was in the middle of Ghusl, can I just perform Wudhu and then go and pray, or do I have to take another bath?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. The cure for confusion is seeking knowledge. We would recommend that you take some introductory courses on religious matters–particularly beliefs and worship–so that you have clarity in your religious practice; and aren’t overwhelmed by the armchair advisors and their mixed bag of counsel. The SunniPath Academy (www.SunniPath.com) offers deep discounts for new Muslims on their courses.

In the case mentioned, all you need to do is perform wudu after ghusl.

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
