Disposing of Horrible Islamic Literature

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Now that I have [these terrible books] I don’t want anyone else to be poisoned by their words as some of them state horrible things contradicting the imams of ‘aqeedah, fiqh and also attacking tasawwuf and its imams. What is the best way to dispose of them? What is the ruling on recycling Islamic books (or any other type of printed material), in particular those with ayats of Qur’an in it in Arabic?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaikum,

The best thing would be to shred them well, and then to bury them somewhere where they won’t not be walked over indiscriminately. Alternatively, you can burn them, but after shredding.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
