Can one do ghusl over a birth control patch as it is not exactly “necessary” and the pill is an alternative, albeit a less desired one?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his folk, companions, and followers

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

A birth control patch is considered a form of “medical treatment,” and would take the ruling of other patches or bandages: when there is harm or hardship in removing them then one can simply wipe over them with a wetted hand such that one wipes most of the area; when this is not possible without reasonable fear of harm, then one can leave wiping them, and it will not affect the validity of one’s ritual ablution or bath. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar; Shurunbulali, Imdad al-Fattah]

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
