How to make up missed Fajr prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I need to know how to make up for my fajr pray if I miss it the day of? Some people say wait till 9am but sometimes i am awake earlier than that and would like to make it up as soon as possible, but I heard somewhere that its not good cause the sun is still rising or something like that so I do not want to commit sin by praying early but I would like that to make more sense in my head. Cause if I can pray early, I would like to know. And while I am asking, how late can you pray it cause I need to tell my mom as she has illnesses and gets up late daily.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. It is permitted to make up Fajr prayers any time after the sun has clearly risen (around 15 minutes after sunrise), and recommended to hasten to make up one’s missed prayers. (Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah)

If you are making up the Fajr prayer before Zuhr time enters of the same day, then it would be proper to also make up its sunna prayer–as this is in accordance with the Prophetic sunna. (Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah)
